The Egyptian Electricity ministry is planning to sign an agreement with Italy’s Eni to set up a 50-megawatt (MW) solar power plant next April.

The Italian oil and gas company has invited solar energy projects’ contractors to present their technical and financial offers to establish the plant, sources added.
More than 23 firms have expressed their interest in the project, including Complete Energy Solutions (CES), Elsewedy Electric, and Orascom Construction.
Last December, Italian oil major Eni revealed intentions to launch a 50-MW solar power plant in Abu Rudeis city, with total investment worth $50 million.
