Domestic consumption of petroleum products is expected to rise by 10.24% in fiscal year (FY) 2018/19 to reach compared 35.5 million tons, Egypt’s petroleum minister Tarek El Molla told Al Shorouk.
The ministry is aiming to decrease butane consumption by 4.87% in the current fisal year to reach 3.9 million tons, compared to the 4.1 million tons used in 2017/18, El Molla pointed out.
Benzene consumption will increase by around 5.63% to reach 7.5 million tons in 2018/19, up from 7.1 million tons in the previous fiscal year, El Molla. Diesel consumption is also expected to grow by 8.88% reaching 14.7 million tons, compared to 13.5 million tons in 2017/18.
The minister pointed out that Egypt’s mazut consumption will increase by 25.33% to reach 9.4 million tons in 2018/2019, from the 7.5 million tons consumed in 2017/18.
