H.E. Engineer Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral resources has attended the celebration of 41 of the top graduates from geology and geophysics departments of Egyptian universities, as part of Al Amal program organized by The Egyptian Geophysical Society. Al Amal program provides the fresh graduates with the required skills to qualify them to join the petroleum sector.
The celebration was attended by the leadership of the petroleum sector and leaders of International petroleum companies working in Egypt.

H.E. Engineer Tarek clarified that the strategy of the ministry is focused on developing skills and capabilities of the young professionals and this is one of the main pillars of the sector strategy for its great positive impact on production increase. The Minster pointed out that the state strategy is to avail real job opportunities to the serious top young generations, emphasizing the approach of linking the scientific learning and its application in the industry in all industry activities to cope with the development seen by global oil and gas industry.

H.E. added that these young graduates are considered as the real core for the continuation of the success of the petroleum sector to support the National economy during the coming years and here comes the role of the leadership to coach and lead these young graduates and transfer their experience and knowledge to them.

The Minster has appreciated the support of the sponsoring companies and their roles in developing the skills of the graduates as well as he advised the young to be confident and to continue developing themselves and be on the top of all recent technologies and initiatives.

Geophysicist Samir Abdelmoaty, Chairman of EGS, explained that Al Amal program is targeting the top 10 graduates from all geoscience departments from all Egyptian universities, and who have to go through a multi-phase selection process. The program takes about 3 months including five main modules, technical and soft skill sessions, practical asset evaluation project, English course, visits to E&P and service provider companies and field trips.

Al Amal program started by EGS in 2007 and so far there are 324 graduates of the program. The program would not achieve such success without the support of our sponsors who are actually our partners in the program.

Apache, BP, and Shell have supported the program since its inception in 2007. This year, Shell has increased its support of the program by adding more workshops and a computer lab. This year’s program is hosted by GPC and sponsored by Apex and Rockhopper Exploration.
